My Hero Academia Chapter 101: The Girl Named Hatsume Mei Review

While Midoriya is still recovering from the rack attack, the gang reintroduce themselves to Hatsume. She could not care less, she has some babies to work on. That is, until Midoriya mentions costume upgrades. Now she's as excited as a fat kid in a pastry shop. Next, Power Loader appears. After he yells at Hatsume for messing up again, he takes the gang inside. The fun is about to begin.

The faces she makes are definitely the best part of this chapter

 

After Power Loader explains the procedure for upgrades, Hatsume gets to work. Midoriya needs something to reduce the strain in his ligaments, and Hatsme has the "perfect" thing. She gives him full body armor that nearly twists him in half. Iida needs something to help cool his legs, and Hatsume has the "perfect" thing. She gives him some boosters on his arms, these boosters end up launching him into the ceiling.

Double standards at its finest. She can touch a guy's body and it's just fine. But if I touch a girl's body, I'm "making her feel uncomfortable" and "interrupting Gym class".

Power Loader yells at her again and apologizes to the gang for her behavior. But he also tells them to make sure they have a good relationship with her. Despite all of the times she has screwed up, she is still great at what she does. Once they're all pros, she'll be able to help them our a lot. After he says that, Midoriya thinks about certain lines said in this chapter that I didn't take the time to point out, and he realizes what All Might meant last chapter.

I wanted to make another joke about Hatsume here, but all I can think about is the fact that Power Loader isn't wearing a shirt.

We go back to Gamma Gym to see the results of some of the students' training. Many of them have developed a special move or two. After Bakugou uses his new "AP Shot" to break a rock, one of the pieces takes flight. Destination: All Might. Before Aizawa can spring into action, the rock is broken by Midoryia through the use of his new "Shoot Style". Basically, he uses his legs now.

Dammit, Mineta! Stop playing with Mount Lady's anal beads!

Opinion:

Mei Hatsume. Definitely the best part of this chapter. From her facial expressions to her malfunctioning babies, almost everything she did this chapter made me laugh. Shiggins wasn't lying when he said she was one of the best characters in the series. And judging by Power Loader's words, we'll be seeing a lot of her in the future.

I don't have a joke for this one. This is just funny.

As for the other part of the chapter, the special moves were interesting, except for Midoriya's. He's just using his legs now. It took him two chapters to realize he has other appendages. It's not bad, it'll defintely be fun to see him use his new style in battle, but it's still underwhelming.

I don't know which is more disturbing, the arm itself, or the fact that it and Ectoplasm seem to be smiling at each other,.
